'Quality' by John Galsworthy:-

Galsworthy depicted a German craftsman's efforts to survive in an era where success is determined by Advertisements not by Work.
This is a story about craftsmanship, Quality found in Mr.Gessler-A Shoemaker.
Basically it's a satire on fast developing world especially in business field.
This is a kind of masterpiece by Galsworthy.it highlights the conflict of Gessler's brother who are excellent shoemaker but can not fight against the global & glamorous advertisements. The narrator ordered many times for his shoes in Mr. Gessler's shop. But at the end of the story,he comes to know that Mr. Gessler passed away because of slow starvation. He dedicated his life to making boots & even such hardwork can not earn him bread & butter.here is a satire that for people quality is not so important but the advertisements attracted more.
Galsworthy succeeds here in narrating the realistic picture of the society especially lower class people-the craftsman.

Thank You.
