The key term in the title Damozel is an archaic word for Damsel.in Roman Catholic Theology, a deceased candidate for saint hood receives the title Blessed before his or her name.
The central idea of this poem in underlying love.although the death of the damozel her separated her from the man she loves,the love between them lives on.so does the hope that one day they will reunite in heaven.

The poem describes how the blessed damozel continuous to love her beloved even after her death.the poem begins with the description of the blessed damozel who links out from a golden banister on the altar most boundary separating heaven for space.her eyes are deeper than the bottom of still water. In her hair are seven stars.she immensely looks at the earth to see her beloved. Her robe is also described deeply by the poet.she is at such high position in the heaven on a rampart that she can hardly see the sun. But damozel is not interested in heavenly pleasures but she awakes for the reunion with her earth bound young man.
She speaks:-
"I wish that he were come to me.."
The young man on earth wonders whether God will invite him to enjoy ensues unity with his beloved. She will request Christ to allow her young man to live forever together, united in love.the man imagines he sees her smile.but then she casts her arms down on the golden banisters & weeps. He hears her tears.
In short, it presents a romantic dream like atmosphere as a Virginal young woman who after her recent death waits for the reunion with her young man she left behind. Even in the heaven she recalls her beloved that shows a true & genuine love.
